Improve leg muscles…stationary bike?

Whenever i ride the stationary bike, after only like 10min my leg muscles (the ones above my knee) are burning so freakin’ bad….I have like no leg strength for biking! I still pull thru and do the entire 45min cycling class, but it’s basically hell! How long will it take for this to get better/what can I do to make my legs able to withstand this?

You want to pedal at a high cadence with a lite pressure on the pedals. That will be easier on you legs and still give you a good workout. If you have too much resistance and have to mash on the pedals it will tire your legs quickly. You want to pedal fast with just enough resistance to get your breathing to the point where you can still talk but not sing. It never gets easier you just get stronger.

if the bike is not set-up the same as bicycle it will continue. when riding stationary you tend to also ride continuously. is the tension adjusted for warm-up? do you warm-up first. riding in pain too long isn’t good it can cause more problems and stop muscle growth. without knowing your routines theres not much to suggest but talk to trainers.

Power is what you need, if you are going to get more power you need to use a big gear against a hard setting on your stationary bike.

Biking between 80-90 rpms is good enough.

Personally, I bike for 30 mins at a decent resistance and an rpm of around 82.

The last 15 minutes I take down the resistance one level thus raising my rpm’s to around 87-88.
